The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) are a group of seven autonomous public research universities in India established by the Ministry of Education. They were created to integrate high-quality undergraduate teaching with state-of-the-art research in the basic sciences. 

Key Locations

There are currently seven IISERs located across India: 

• IISER Pune: Established in 2006 in Maharashtra.
• IISER Kolkata: Established in 2006 in West Bengal.
• IISER Mohali: Established in 2007 in Punjab.
• IISER Bhopal: Established in 2008 in Madhya Pradesh.
• IISER Thiruvananthapuram: Established in 2008 in Kerala.
• IISER Tirupati: Established in 2015 in Andhra Pradesh.
• IISER Berhampur: Established in 2016 in Odisha. 

  Academic Programs

The institutes offer a range of programs focusing on interdisciplinary science: 

• BS-MS Dual Degree: A flagship 5-year integrated program for students after Class 12, covering Biological, Chemical, Earth, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences.
• BS Degree: Offered exclusively at IISER Bhopal in Engineering Sciences and Economic Sciences.
• Integrated PhD (I-PhD): For students who have completed their Bachelor's degree.
• PhD: Traditional doctoral research programs. 

  Admission Process
